Seed Saving Season

First off, I hope you noticed my fine alliteration skills in the title.

Okay now that you did a double take on the title I can talk about seeds! I'm completely immersed in them right now because it's that time of year.

This morning I cut open two varieties of tomato and squeezed the seeds into two different jars- well labeled of course!

I've got four more varieties waiting to be processed for a total of six types of tomato seed I'm saving this year. I'm going to make tomato sauce out of the "discarded" fruit.

On top of that I've got five types of beans, several lettuce, cilantro, kale, arugala, spinach, phacelia, calendula, arnica, fennel, basil, three types of peppers, zucchini, and, and, and!

What are you saving seeds from?

  1. I grew ten tomatoes this year and had a really good crop. This is the first year I decided to keep my seeds. My only problem is that I don't know the name of them (My wife and I made some up - that was fun!). Can't wait till next spring.

    1. I love it! I rename things too- like the cherry tomato that showed up, obviously from my compost. I'm calling it "Cheeky Red"!!
